Inspired Journeys

The Inspired Journeys mural showcases incredible photos and stories of people facing their cancer battles with extraordinary bravery.  Looking at this piece, you don’t see cancer. You see a veteran, an artist, a firefighter, a musician, a new wife, a dog lover, a grandma, a mother, a friend. These are not just patients, they are people. Everyday heroes.

This event was the unveiling of the new art piece in the lobby of the Corewell Health Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion. The stories were previously featured on  Health Beat, Spectrum Health's award-winning consumer brand journalism website. The piece reflects the courage of every patient who walks through the doors at Lemmen-Holton Cancer Pavilion to face their personal battle with cancer.


Persona Research and Development

Spectrum Health was researching options to plan and build an interactive tool to help physicians and their office staff access and manage service line and physician referral information. This interactive tool/app had a broad spectrum of key users that were identified for success of the app. By using Human Centered Design Methodologies I worked with a firm to ensure that the mindsets, needs, preferences, foals and context of use were identified for multiple key users. I used focus groups along with meetings to identify key personas/users of the app. Then researched and defined specific user personas to highlight these identified users key to the success of the referral app. This was Phase 1 of the project that I was responsible for. The entire team consisted of many C-suite executives from multiple departments through the health system and the insurance (Priority Health) arm of the system.

Ten 90-minute focus groups were conducted over the course of a week. Two groups were conducted among each segments including; Young Singles/Couples, Young Families, Established Families, Empty Nesters/Older Adults and Seniors. 

Overall findings were presented to C-suite executives and used in alignment with marketing communication strategies, Health Beat content marketing and brand awareness tactics.
